Titans, Cats & Dogs, and Tree Trimming

I got home yesterday and found my copy of "The New Teen Titans: Games" graphic novel had arrived from Amazon. SQUEEEE! I've been waiting for a LONG time for this to be released. Anything George Perez draws is wonderful in my book, but this story is set back when Donna Troy had recently became the armored, short-haired version of Troia. It's a fantastic costume (though many don't like it) that didn't last long in the series. So I'm glad to see her in action in it again. I'm only 2/3rd's of the way through. I'm trying to savor it.

One of the other books I bought recently is called "Why Dogs are Better Than Cats." While I don't totally agree that dogs are better, the author Bradley Trevor Greive makes a great argument. The book is a picture book with great sayings like, "Dogs are social. Cats are sociopaths," and "Dogs match up to people. People must match up to cats." While he may be a dog person, he does give some positive qualities about our feline friends, including their hunting skills and keeping vermin away.

One of the things that caught my eye was that the Aussie author is HOT! (work safe). Bearded, burly and furry, he apparently was the rock lifting champion in a village in French Polynesia. I didn't get the chance to do a FYFF pic after my workout yesterday, so I'm offering his shirtless pic as a substitute. He seems to have a great sense of humor and, while he isn't family, he still is very good eye candy!

George the Tree TrimmerAfter my workout and my shower, I settled in to work on the comic, coloring the cover and preparing to do some lettering when I heard a chainsaw running. My neighbor was saying he was going to have to trim a tree earlier this week, so I assumed it was him. Then there was a knock at my door. It was the tree removal service I'd called two weeks ago to remove a dead pine and they were halfway done. With the recent rain, I'd not set up a time to have it done, but I was happy to see it go. And this handsome devil (right) was climbing the tree again, though I didn't get an updated pic of him.

Busy but happy Thursday. Now if I can get through Friday, the weekend will be here.

1. Bradley = HAWT (you are forgiven, momentarily, for not posting your own pic)
2. Tree guy can climb on my trunk any time.

Bradley is stunningly HAWT.. and his sense of humor makes him even moreso!

And the tree climber guy is quite the daddy bear! He's let the beard grow out longer these days :)

boooooo! how come my copy of New Teen Titans: Games didn't come yesterday :( Maybe it will come today. Oh, wait, I may have clicked off to group my stuff together for free shipping, I bet they won't ship it until Bionic Woman season 3 comes in next week :)

I saw the Games book at my comic shop yesterday and nearly bought a second copy because I wasn't sure I could wait.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! The current Titans incarnation just isn't working for me, so it's a great reminder of how good it used to be.

Bionic Woman Season 3?? Oh... I need to order that!

order it now and get the cheaper pre-order price!

I have to say, so far there has been nothing in the DCNU that has impressed me terribly. I've only read the first 2 weeks of the books (haven't gotten to the new titans yet) but not one of them has wowed me at all. It's leaving me very sad. I hope better things are to come as the books start to find a groove but I'm already missing so much of the old DCU. It will be nice to get the Games book, tho bittersweet with the apparent disappearance of Donna and Wally in the DCNU.

Not much in the DCNU is impressing me either. I'm still reading Legion and I'm willing to give "Legion Lost" a go! The new "Wonder Woman" looks awful and I'm keeping up with "Justice League" only because I like the artwork.

And no Donna Troy? WTF!

My newest fave is a Marvel comic, the reviving of "Alpha Flight."

I'm totally enjoying the new Alpha Flight... how crazy is it that they actually made Marina sort of a cool character LOL

I suspect there is more to come as far as what happened to Donna Troy and Wally West but not sure I'll like it. I'm still very grumbly about Barry and Iris not being married. Clark and Lois a *little* less grumbly to me but still not happy about it.

and most of all... I miss Kryto :(

Marrina has turned into quite a cool character. I'm curious why they keep drawing Aurora in her gold and yellow outfit on the covers, but in her black/white outfit inside. It makes me think something is brewing there.

I keep hoping that Donna will reappear after this whole new 52 thing blows over. Donna has just become too interesting a character to fade her away.

Krypto was a good dog :)

I'm still waiting for the Krypto - Dex-star fight/team up that was promised ages ago LOL

I'm sure they have plans for Donna/Wally, similar to it being clear the plan was to put JSA back on Earth 2 from the beginning, but hard to imagine what they would do after so blatantly leaving them out of it all.

I ordered that book. While I like both dogs and cats, that photo of the author made me want to give him money. I bought the hardback edition. Do you suppose he will come over to my house to sign it?

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh if only!

And it was $6.98 at Barnes & Noble, in the discount area. If you can cancel the online order, you might be able to save a few bucks going to the bookstore.

I found the hardback for $8 at Amazon, with free shipping.

Did you see his video?

I watched it here (on your post) and YUM!

Just a note on the book though, he's only in it on the author's book jacket. Though I think it would sell better if he was in the book too :)
