Grizzly & The Bear Patrol #6 - Rough Draft Page One
Last week, I finished writing Grizzly & The Bear Patrol #6 and plotted out the pages. Over the weekend, I started drawing and I was surprised how quickly it started moving along.
Normally when I draw pages, they never seem to turn out exactly how I imagined them. Sometimes they are better, sometimes not. I went to bed Sunday night feeling pretty happy about how the first three pages turned out and I realized that page one turned out exactly how I imagined it. Since I both pencil and ink the pages, I often take shortcuts with the details, not shading the dark areas with pencil since I'll be inking them or coloring them later. The rough pencils are often VERY rough and I add details in the inking.
Last night, while watching Drag U on Logo, I polished off a couple of more pages and decided to revisit page one. I did what I usually don't, added more detail and shaded things in.
It'll be several weeks, if not a couple of months, before issue #6 is done, but I went ahead and scanned the rough pencils for page one. I put it behind the cut to save space. It doesn't give away any story, but hopefully it'll make you guys wonder a bit what the heck I've written.
Happy Tuesday!

It's not that I don't see flaws in it, but they are acceptable flaws.

I finally gathered enough courage two nights ago to pencil sketch my first canvass in 18 years (featuring some unnamed (as yet) superheroine) jointly inspired by you and a great friend in Perth. Just need to be brave, pull my finger outta my are and put oil to canvass and finish.
So I should be saying thank you :-)
