From a glass plate negative of people enjoying a horse race in 1934 in Australia.

You know by that wild striped pattern outfit, the obvious cup of alcohol, and those high heels, she must have been the tart of the group. :)

No doubt about it, a flapper.

She really lets her hair down and shows more ankle when she's tipsy!

[identity profile] itzgid.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Look closer, I think her hair's bobbed.

I guess since I'm wearing stripes today, I'm the tart of the group too! LOL

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL... well, I wasn't going to say it.. but.. ;)

Sometimes you've got to call a spade a spade! LOL

We can be tarts together, it's more fun that way.

[identity profile] dendren.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure if you know it but it looks like you put your underwear on your head. You'll never get them on properly that way.

;)

Perhaps he's trying to rob a bank. It's supposed to be panty-HOSE... :D

[identity profile] spatts5.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)

Lots of alcohol (okay maybe not lots) and a cute furry bear that looks like [livejournal.com profile] kybearfuzz wouldn't hurt :)

[identity profile] texwriterbear.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Just stating the facts handsome :)

[identity profile] dendren.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I do love old pics like this, tho I don't usually have the same take as you seem to have gotten from it. I just think "oh that's so cool" not "I bet she was a tart" LOL

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL... well, I didn't get that originally. I just noticed how fanciful her outfit seemed to be in contrast to the blander outfits of everyone around her and made up the rest.

And I like old photos like this too. I try to imagine what it looked like in color.

[identity profile] dendren.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
color didn't exist back then, the whole world was black and white, I'm sure of it.

;)

[identity profile] bruinwi.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Color wasn't invented until about 1949...and wasn't widely distributed until 1955.

In da U.P., we didn't get color until 1968, and then, only because we got cable.
