Dreaming of Time Traveling...

While this dream was very cohesive while I had it, the longer I'm awake, the less of it I remember. This is why I normally try to write down as much of it as I can as soon as I wake up. Here are the highlights as I recall them.

  • My mom and I were time traveling somehow. We were back sometime in the late 1960's or early 1970's. I want to say we were in Britain or Canada as I nearly slipped up to say how I liked the money with different sizes and colors, but it hadn't happened yet. No one seemed to have accents though. In order for us to go back to 2010, there was a mystery to solve, but I can't remember what it was. In this era, I was a kid.
  • There were old wooden signs of Coca-Cola and Pepsi hanging in a school or city building. I was in a judges chamber and there were photos of the city folk on the walls from different festivals. I knew somehow there was a clue to the mystery in them.
  • The local kids were playing games in the yard, calling it Cowboys and Indians, where they chased one kid who would hide (we used to call it "smear the queer" back home, "queer" just meaning the odd man, not the homosexual). I was the "indian" and was hiding under a weeping bush.
  • There was a woman who had three talking polar bears who were doing data entry. One of them was having back problems from being hunched over all the time. When he went to the doctor, he could change into a normal guy. This wasn't common knowledge in town.
  • One of the local store owners had an illness. She had taken a bus with something like "medical care" back home. I saw from under the bush as she came home. I suspect it was something terminal. Her return home coincided with the polar bear guy being in human form after his doctor visit. She went inside her house, turned on some music and came back out to the road where a crowd was forming. I thought it was something called "The Shake" by Ray Stevens (no such song apparently exists) and every just started dancing in the street having a great time.
  • I never solved the mystery or even figured out exactly what it was... It was fun though.

The polar bear turning into a man reminds me of the comic strip Bear With Me. The overall dreamscape sounds fascinating.
