Waiting and Waiting

Yesterday I was waiting for the TV repair guy to show up at home. My big screen TV is still under the extended warranty I purchased and last week the HDMI ports stopped working. While the cable guy managed to get the HD TV to work through another setup, I want those other ports to work. So I called and got an appointment with a repair service and took off work early to get home in time for the two hour window they usually give.

From 3 to 5 PM I waited, even waiting until 5:30 in case the repair guy got caught in Cincinnati's rush hour traffic. I called the repair service only to find out that the service they use has "limited personnel this week." Ummm... you've known that for two days and no one called me?

So there is another service call for today, but they are supposed to call me with the when. I told the lady I'd already taken off an afternoon from work for this and wasn't taking another one. She seemed to understand that, but it makes me wonder what kind of hours this service may have.

... poop... :(

Sometimes I think "service" companies go by the motto, "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission". It's easier for them to apologize for being late or not showing up at all rather than calling and actually giving you the courtesy of correct, accurate information. I rather have the company call to tell me the serviceman is delayed or won't be there as scheduled rather than me stewing waiting for a person who's not going to show. I feel your pain Mark!

It's infuriating and unacceptable when service is scheduled and no one shows. I always feel like calling a television consumer reporter and having them investigated! It sounds like you're nicer about it than I am:) Hope they show up today. All they needed to do was call you, tell you they were short-staffed and it wasn't going to happen.

HUGS!
