Another Snow Day

Snow Panic Guy by Borgman
Snow Panic Guy by Cartoonist Jim Borgman

Today looks to be a rough travel day for everyone here in the Greater Cincinnati area. It looks like we're heading for several inches of snow when it's all said and done.

This cartoon is one of my favorites. While he was the editorial cartoonist for the Cincinnati Enquirer, Jim Borgman did an annual cartoon of the the "Snow Panic Guy," who accurately depicts the freaking out that happens with the falling of the white death. Just remember, bread, milk and toilet paper are the three necessities of survival.

Even the president made it to work today.

If you're going to be snowbound, why not! :)

Be careful in your commute! I was able to change my days off this week and have today off. Minneapolis has been hit hard. The transportation dept. is incredibly prepared, but it's been snowing non-stop since Sunday evening.

I have bread and toilet paper ... but damn! I've run out of milk:)

HUGS!

We're getting a pretty constant fall today. After the first couple of inches fell overnight, I decided to stay home. It looks like the snow wont stop falling for a while.

Hugs! :)

So, how bad a snowfall does it take to paralyze the city? I know you've got more snow removal equipment that we do because 3" here can grind everything to a halt. Seems like schools around here will close if they see one frozen puddle in the road--silly.

I'm not sure what it would take to have the city shut down the streets, usually it requires an ice storm from what I remember from the last shut down.

From living for several years in the DC area, the barest threat of 'weather' was guaranteed to make all bread and milk disappear from supermarket shelves for a 50 mile radius. Ya gotta wonder...

Since the predicting of weather tends to be so unreliable, I guess people automatically assume the worst so they are prepared. It always surprises me how people act like they need to shop for two weeks instead of a day or two though.

I am well past the paniced "We're all going to die!" phase; I long ago drifted into the "Oh, God....I'm actually going to live THROUGH his mess."

At least "Snow Panic Guy" has adrenaline on his side; all I have going for me is dogged determination.
