Retro Info Needed

Hey all. I need a bit of help, especially from those of you who remember the 1970's better than I do. Most of my vague memories are from the late 70's and it's hard to remember what people wore.

Did guys go about in vests without shirts in the 70's or was that more of a late 60's thing? I need the info for the next comic book installment.

I think that's more of a '60s thing, rather than a '70s thing, but some fashion faux pas of the sixties carried into the early seventies.

But hell, use it anyway. A shirtlyess hairy chest under a vest is kind o' sexy.

A suede fringed vest, either completely open, or loosely tied at mid breast. Very 1967.

Well, this comic issue seems rather short of shirtlessness (after the first issue barrage of them), so it'll probably go shirtless with vest.

I don't remember ever going around in a vest with or without a shirt in the 1970's and I was in college or the close aftermath. Hmmm ... though I did go without a shirt when I wore my overalls. In Houston, with the heat, men did go shirtless with their leather vests. Not sure this helps, but it's offered with the best of intentions.

Try the overalls without a shirt. I worked to great advantage for most of the 70's:)

Heh... Sorry, the most 70's style I remember was the turtleneck under a jacket (according to my childhood photos).

During the early 70's I was in da U.P. and NOONE went shirtless up there...unless you wanted your nips to freeze and break off. I spent the later half of the 70's in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and by that time, polyester and leisure suits had taken over and disco had peaked and was dying.

Fringed vests was a 60s "Easy Rider" thing (one of the few movies I've walked out on).

With 70's think gold chains, open shirts and polyester (Guys wore platform shoes, too).
