RuPaul's Drag Race

RuPaul's Drag RaceI have rarely been a fan of reality TV as I feel most of it has been done to death. Whether or not the bachelor picks the best girl from a troop of plastic gold diggers or the model/singer/actress contestant on the island manages to snatch the immunity idol from Queen Hula Hula's volcanic hot springs, it rarely captures my attention or interest. Of course, this changes when it's all drag queens camping it up for a camera, being bitchy to each other, etc.

Howard BragmanRuPaul's Drag Race has been a lot of fun to watch. It's a fairly inexpensive production, but I think it is interesting to see what these guys go through for drag. I even stayed up late last night to catch the third episode. I already have my favorite picked out and the one I hate picked out. I guess I can see the appeal of some reality TV.

I also enjoy the guest judges they bring on board each episode to help sort out the divas from the mess. Last night was Howard Bragman (right), a gay public relations pro, whose bearish good looks was a stark contrast to the glitz and glam on the runway. I wont spoil who got bumped last night for the TiVo crowd, but I will say that I thought it weird that Logo had the bumpee listed on their website for the show a few hours before it aired.

I saw the first two episodes and am HOOKED! It's like a bad car wreck, it's horrible, but you can't help but look. It is a lot of fun too.

All that swish and swirl, to be a gyrll...I thought Ru acually looked better in drag now than dressed as a man. He seems to be very sallow cheeked. Almost anemic looking. I enjoyed the camp of the show though, watching them try to upstage each other.

I felt bad for week one's elimination victim but she was just set up to fail from the beginning by being the only big girl in the group.

Week two's train derailment winner never stood a chance either. She was an "I love Lucy" kind of queen and her days were numbered when she walked in the door.

I havent seen week three yet. I hope it's that Ongina creature. She's like the drag version of a Chuckie doll. I'd say she needs to go but she really needs to be staked down in the desert at night to await the burning rays of the morning sunrise.

I did feel sorry for the first week elimination. I did think it was surprising that she had never put together her own outfit having done drag for that many years.

Lucy in week two was not really a surprise (I'd heard already), but she really did stand out apart from the others. She's a comic drag queen, not really a sexy one. I do wish she had not just given up at the end though, I think effort would have counted for something.

And I'm not giving away the week 3 gal. I do think Ongina has limited appeal. What drag queen doesn't like to wear a wig? The one judge said it best, he looks like a boy in a dress.

So who are your fave and least fave?

And I agree about the judge...he was looking cute. Though that pic you posted of him looks better than he did on the show *g*

My favorites are Bebe Zahara Benet and Nina Flowers, they just seem different, though I think Benet has the best chances. My least favorites are Shannel and Akashia. Shannel is just an arrogant bitch and needs to be knocked down and Akashia thinks she has more talent than she does. I honestly think I could walk down the catwalk in heels better! She clomps down that runway like she's walking on soup cans!

And the guest judge has some photos out there that are less appealing, I think he's handsome in person and just doesn't take a great photo normally.
