Titan in Green or Black

After a grueling cardio workout today, I didn't feel like doing much but sitting at the computer. I did a few color changes to the Titan cartoon from the earlier post today. I need to remember to leave them in the Photoshop format. It makes changes much easier. Two variations of the Titan toon are behind the cut.

Green and Gold Titan
Titan in Shades of Green and Gold

Green and Black Titan
Titan in Black and Green

I did think that the shades of blue and gray were definitely making me think of Ultimate Thor (the blond hair and beard helped there too). I did the first in shades of green and made his arm gauntlets gold. A good improvement I think. The two shades of green didn't really give enough contrast though. I then reverted the tunic to black with black boots for the second one and I think it improved things. The gold belt makes him look like a pro-wrestler, which isn't a bad thing :D

Any opinions?

Black would be the preference. The light green doesn't look tough enough. :p

I agree. I finished the green two-tone last night and thought, if not for his face and muscles, he'd look a bit like Peter Pan. I then switched the tunic to black again and it seemed to help.

I can't say I'm totally sold on either one of them though...

We aren't seeing enough man cleavage either! Pectorals = love.

I like the changes to the darker tones. Have you thought of changing the color of his wrist bands. I think they look good now, so I'm not sure if changing them would just make the drawing more "busy" or not.

LOL... perhaps I'll do a Titan-shower scene...

What do you mean by changing the wrist bands color? The whole sleeve or doing a gradient change from lighter to darker? I am open to suggestions :)

I'd have the gloves be a different color than the arm bands. Or a gradient, just something a little different...? I'm not sure.

I still want to be a villain one of these days... A charming, scamp of a rapscallion who's totally redeemable through good sex.

Oh. And Green here...

A villain, huh? And what powers would you have? Describe :D

I think Dan needs some kind of Mastermind-esque powers triggered by storytelling *g*

I suppose Omnipotence is completely out of the question?

I'll have to think about this a little.

Not that there isn't something fun about an omnipotent villain (i.e. "Q" from "Star Trek"), I think there has to be a reasonable probability of defeat :)

I'm different... Brown and Reds!

I honestly thought about that too. I tried a red tunic on him, but with the green, it made me think of the old Robin costume. I think to do other colors I might have to do a redraw versus a recolor.

The last three heroes I've created have all had green color influences. Strangely, on my bear super team, most of the costumes have black in one form or another.

I like the black. For some reason the green makes me think of the Peter David Aquaman (minus the harpoon hand) but it doesn't happen with the black.

I was playing around with the tunic color last night and tried the color orange and a light brown and both were very Aquaman looking, so they were droppped.

And I loved the Peter David Aquaman... yum!

[identity profile] dendren.livejournal.com 2009-02-10 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
the Peter David Aquaman was truly my favorite incarnation of the character, tho Eric Larson's stories weren't bad either. He's just gone to trash since then tho.

I used to think Peter David could do no wrong after absolutely loving Supergirl, Young Justice etc but he sure missed the mark with She-Hulk :P

much better

The changes with following your gut are working just fine. One slight note: his hair color and gold gloves/accents seem similar in color, perhaps a little more depth in shading? Not that a superhero needs highlights - LOL. Or perhaps a silver daddy superhero? hmmm. . . .
