Softball and More Possible Teaching Opportunities

Ugh.. those late evening softball games are hard on a guy the morning after. We did well, playing against [livejournal.com profile] lougarou's team. It was a great night to play. I had three times at bat. One beautiful shot to high left center that was caught, a one-foot drop that got me on base, and an odd hit that went almost over second base but was caught by the shortstop... darn her. Brian ([livejournal.com profile] cincycub) and Kevin ([livejournal.com profile] shimbexprovides) were in the stands watching. I'm glad they could make it out for such a late game.

A bright note from yesterday! A coworker came into my office yesterday and told me that he wanted to nominate me to teach at our national new hire course. He wants me to teach sections regarding the laboratory functions and he thinks that with my laboratory background I would be good for it. It's a big deal as this is a teaching group you actually have to audition for in order to join and all new employees take this class before taking any other off-site training. I was pretty flattered, so we'll see how that goes.

So did you guys win??
Good luck with the teaching of the new course. I'm sure you'll be great at it.

We did win the game, but I've forgotten the score specifically. And thanks :)

Where will this new training be?

New hire training locations can vary. Usually they are in DC, but if multiple classes are taught, they sometimes have them in other cities. I went to New Hire training in Lisle, IL in 1995, which sucked as a location, and in San Antonio, TX in 2001, which was great.

Kevin is obviously doing pretty well then. Cool!!

He's doing better, but I think he's still off work for another week at least. And he's loving the vicodin he's on :)
