Iron Man

Tony Stark
Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark in Iron Man

I took an hour off early today to go see a matinee of Iron Man. When Tony Stark, a rich weapons designer/manufacturer is kidnapped by a terrorist group armed with his company's weapons, he designs an armor to escape and make amends for his company.

The movie is spectacular with good acting, great special effects, and a fun mix of drama, action, and comedy. Robert Downey, Jr. fits the role of Tony Stark to a tee, in looks and character, especially from what I recall from the comic books. I read somewhere that Jon Favreau had to convince the producers that Downey would be right for the role. I've read that the actors have signed on for two sequels already. If you go see it, stick around to the end of the credits for an extra scene that is really good, especially for comic book guys.

Did I enjoy the movie? Very much.
Would I see it again? Oh yeah.
Buy the DVD? Yes.

Good to know the movie is good. I don't like action/heroe movies, but I know I will end up going to see it with a friend. Thanks for the review!

Comong from such a movie/comic book afficianado like yourself, that's high praise. I have plans to see it Sunday with some friends. I've ALWAYS liked Robert Downey Jr. as an actor. Hopefully he's got his act together (sort of speak) and we'll see some more great things from him.

Daaaa daaaa da da da!

I've been paying attention to the development of this film ... not that I'm some kind of Iron Man fanboy or anything, but the "superhero" genre is getting pretty crowded, and you had to wonder if the producers could pull this one off. All indications are, they HAVE. I guess it's the only film in the multiplexes right now that I have ANY interest in seeing. And you don't have to worry about me missing the closing credits; I ALWAYS sit through them, if only out of respect for all the little people that help make a movie. Otherwise, why would they include them in the release?
