The Orphanage and the Blah

Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] cubtharsis and I hit a matinee of The Orphanage. I'd already seen it, but he hadn't. It was just as good the second time for me, even moreso as I saw things I had missed during my first showing. I look forward to getting this on DVD.

Monday was off for me somehow. I woke up and just couldn't muster the energy to get to work. It's odd to sit and just stare into space like that. I've seen my nephew do it when he has to be up for school, but at least he just woke up. I was like that for hours. I did make it work very VERY late. I went to bed around 9 PM last night. I must be getting old.

Strangely, this morning, I'm up and at it at 4:30 AM. I even made it to the gym this morning, watching Conan: The Barbarian on the big screen while running on the treadmill. Geez, it's really a bad movie. I'm starting to crash again, wondering if it's the weather or something.

I really like "The Orphanage." I am surprised it didn't end up being nominated for best foreign film for an Oscar as I really thought it was that kind of quality film. Belen Rueda is also just spectacular in the film. I remember hearing about this movie months ago and just loved the premise, so I was excited when it got released here. I've heard there is supposed to be an American version made, but I'm sure it will suck, as most remakes do.

And as for this morning, I didn't get to pick the movie. Believe me, "Hot Fuzz" would have been much more preferable. :)

I saw that one too and he does do a fantastic job, very creepy and commmanding. I'm hoping he wins.

I was up at 4:30 this morning too. I found it unacceptable, but it did give me a push to do some strength exercises I've been meaning to start - lol.

Oh I can only imagine weight lifting at that hour. I tried to do some bicep curls in the weight room before running and my body just said no. :D

The best thing about "Conan" is the film score soundtrack by Basil Poledouris. Its a classic!!

The movie though... uh.... right.....

I'm surprised they were playing it at the gym actually. Usually they play more recent movies.

I loved "El Orphanage". How was it the 2nd time? When I saw it the audience jumped and totally got into it. They gasped when Laura found the secret door and was about to go down the stairs. One woman in the row in front of me screamed loudly when the window broke.

I have been considering going to see it again or should I just wait for the DVD. *ponders*

Oh it was great the second time around, especially if you go with someone who jumps when the spooky stuff happens. I'm kinda sad that it seems to be disappearing as it was just released here about three weeks ago. There was still quite a crowd at the single showing at the only theater still carrying it, so I think they ought to keep it another week.
