Secret Santa

Well, I'm in the office today. So far, so good. I bought two dozen bagels as today is my branch's food day, where everyone brings in goodies to share. I'm not baking for everyone, so buying is better. I found my Secret Santa gift, a Dave-and-Buster's letter opener and a plastic cord for my id badge (I know they have a name, but I don't remember it... it's early.. give me a break). If the day goes sour, I can always use them as a garotte and a knife. And isn't that what Martha tells us, to use things in imaginative ways?

While doing my own Secret Santa shopping, I found a small book called "Momma Loves Her Some Eggnog" by MikWright, which is a collection of old 1960's/1970's family holiday photos with funny sayings. I was laughing pretty hard in the bookstore looking at it, so I had to buy it. Here are a couple of examples:

The photo is an old decorated fireplace. The caption reads...

"dear santa,

here's a picture of our chimney. please e-mail me the dimensions of your ass, because i don't think this is going to work.

love,
emily"

---------

The photo is a pine tree covered in very heavy snow. The caption reads...

"so I called mavis to tell her i got eight inches last night and, of course, the bitch claimed she got nine."

I'm liking the first one the most. :) How crude to refer to the big ass of dear old Santa. Love it.

Hey you never know, Santa's ass may be big, but I bet all that lifting he does makes them buns of steel! :)

It's good for a few laughs. I should dig up my family photos and do the same thing.

Sounds like a good book to put you in the holiday spirit. Who doesn't like 8 or 9 inches at Christmas!
