Beowulf in 3D

Beowulf and sword
Beowulf pursues Grendel's mother

The Cincinnati Movie Bears got together last night for a 3D showing of Beowulf.

The tale of Beowulf and his battle with the monster Grendel is something I think most of us got stuck reading (or trying to read) in high school, so I wont recount that. The movie does a great job explaining the story in grand detail. Of course, the hype really comes from the animation of the film, which was incredible. Amazing detail in every scene and lots of male nude backsides and strategically placed items to hide the full frontal from appearing. Lots of giggling from the bears during certain scenes were heard. Watching it in 3D with my special 3D Carrie Donovan glasses was fun too :)

Did I enjoy the movie? Very much.
Watch it again? I think so.
Buy the DVD? Oh yeah :)

I went with A.J. (nimbuscub) and Joe (oakthorne) to see it in 3D yesterday, too. Really amazing that it was totally CGI. After a while, I almost forgot it was in 3D, it just seemed so real. I wonder if they will be able to come out with a 3D version on DVD.

That would be really neat if the 3D version could come out on DVD! I thought the animation was spectacular.

I saw the Imax 3D version as well. A group of Columbus bears gathered at the Easton Teather for the premier. Not the movie of my choice, but sometimes it does not have to be all about me :-)

Did I enjoy the movie? yes.
Watch it again? maybe, on tv a few years from now.
Buy the DVD? sure not. It was good, but I am not a fan of animated movies. I will use the money to buy "Love in the Time of Cholera" :)

It was a pretty cool movie in 2D as well! Gotta love how they played hide and seek with his equipment in the naked scene.

Don't you just love the strategically placed objects to keep you from seeing Beowulf's stuff. It's like Austin Powers was involved.

WOOOF-DAH!

Keep both hands above the covers, son...above the covers. (I always pictured Beowulf with fur...Lots of it. I dunno 'bout you. He looks a little too, um, SMOOTH to me... I don't think Beowulf used Nair for men...

There were some scenes where his blond chest fur was very apparent. I wonder if the Danes had there own version of Nair, made from goat cheese and seaweed or something :)
