Grade School Buddies

Had a lazy Sunday. I went and did a little Christmas shopping, but wasn't in the mood really. About five minutes after I got home, I got a call from my friend Heather.

Heather is probably my oldest friend. She and I have known each other since 3rd grade and we still keep in touch. She's always been probably the most interesting person I've ever known. She and I were the only boy-girl science fair partners in junior high, which raised many eyebrows for some reason. In high school, she always did her own thing and never was just one of the crowd. She has an almost precognitive sense of things. She wore the "Monkees" tee-shirt months before the revival craze of the 80's. She was a tied-dyed shirt wearer a year before that craze as well. Heather never tries to be cool, she simply is cool.

Heather is also the class nomad traveler. Nothing is more appealing to her than finding out what's on the other side of the mountain. Where most of my classmates never wanted to leave our small KY hometown, Heather was taking weekend trips to Niagara Falls. She also knows that you can drive to Honduras. She hasn't done it yet, but there's always tomorrow. I've always admired this trait in her.

Well, we caught up a bit now that she's out West while she waits to move back to Germany with her hubby. See, the consummate world traveler. And she, like I do, thinks that Kevin Smith is cute and cuddly. I'm trying to get her to join LJ. She reads my journal from time-to-time and I hope she doesn't mind my adding this little homage to her here. She's one of my dearest friends and I just wanted her to know that. ;)

I think its neat that you think enough of a friend to introduce her.

Sounds like she is really cool.

Thanks. She is beyond cool... she's Heather ;)

Good Gracious!

Well, dear heavens, Mark ... I don't know whether to laugh or cry! Actually, I think I'm blushing. *laugh* You're a sweetie, Mark! Here I just think I'm dorky ... who knew that was cool. ;)

You're the best! Here's to 7th grade science fairs and playing 'Star Wars' at recess!

LOL... like you don't deserve the accolades! If only we had Chewbacca Chris here!
