Family Drama for the Holidays...
Today started my official holiday trip for Thanksgiving. After chatting a bit online this morning and packing at the last minute like always, I finally was ready to hit the road. Then my sister called and said that I shouldn't stop by her office on my way down as I usually do. When I asked why, she told me that she had gotten FIRED! Well, I was in shock. I knew that she and some of the other girls had discovered that their boss was stealing money and reporting mileage for trips that she had never taken. When one of them got fired unjustly, it all got reported to the owners with evidence. My sister and her coworkers had heard that the owners had removed their boss pending an investigation. That was last week.
Apparently my sister's former boss is a more convincing liar than they thought because the owners believed her stories. As payback, that lying, thieving bitch of a boss came back today and fired my sister and one of her coworkers. No reason was given, they were just escorted from the building. My sister isn't necessarily torn up over this because she hated the job and would have hated working for that lazy tramp even more, but the principle of it has her pissed off, that she told the owners of her boss' wrongdoing and got canned for it. 'Tis the season for job hunting I guess. She and her friend are looking into their legal options now.
My mom, bless her, dropped a different bomb. We were chatting about her and her "boyfriend" and how close they are getting. She's almost asking me for advice. I told her that I didn't necessarily have any, being that I haven't dated much. It then came out that I had told my 28-year-old nephew that I was gay. Mom asked how he took it, I told her fine. She then said something that kind of bothered me. She said that I should be careful in telling my older brothers or my uncle because "they wouldn't understand." It bothered me because I felt like she didn't want me to tell them for fear of the embarrassment or questions she would have to deal with from them, rather than my well-being. I just replied that I'm a big boy now and can handle whatever they dish out and left it alone after that.
*Sigh* and I haven't even been home a full day yet and it's three more days to Thanksgiving... I can't imagine what is next. As much as I love my family, it's sometimes more stressful to come here than it would be to stay home and miss the holidays altogether.
