Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what Tim Barela, the cartoonist who created Leonard & Larry, is up to these days?? I've done multiple web searches and can't find anything current.

Well - he's not cartooning, and probably won't be. He has carpal tunnel problems and thus drawing is out. [Personally, I wish I could wire my brain to his and let him use MY hands, but....]

He has a non-art-related job and is a member of a wild-west gunfighter re-enactment group. (You may have noticed a tendency for Larry to turn up in cowboy clothes near the end of _Leonard & Larry_; that was when this new hobby was kicking in. ;)

(Tim is a personal friend of mine, and in fact I'm the one who encouraged him to give Frontiers a try when the Advocate dropped his strip many years ago.)

Thanks VERY much for the update

LEONARD AND LARRY gave me so much pleasure so often! Yes, I bought all the books - please pass along to Tim Barela the thanks that I can't give him in person.

As proof that I'm a real L&L fan, I will comment that NEVER have I encountered more creative spelling than in Barela's work...

Thanks for the update. If you get a chance, please tell Tim how much I appreciated his work. Honestly, his books were a major stepping stone to my coming out myself. I have one of original Leonard & Larry strips framed and mounted on my office wall at home. It's a prized possession :)

I hope his carpal tunnel problems ease up someday and we get to see more Leonard & Larry.

Interesting interview with him on that site. Thanks. I've always found Ron Suresha's focus a bit too 'expert' and the questions a tad shallow. But that's just imo.
