Catching Up This Week

Some odds and ends from this week:
  • Belated birthday hugs to [livejournal.com profile] demcub! I'll see you Saturday!
  • I finally caught an episode of the Showtime series Dead Like Me on the Sci-Fi Channel. Is it me, or is this show really good? Naturally it has been canceled.
  • I found out there is a three-week work trip to Canada available in August. Reading through the description, I would be perfect for the trip. It coincides with my class in DC though, so I can't go. GRRRRRR!
  • Traveling to Louisville next week for work.
  • A visit to my orthodontist yesterday yielded good stuff. She gives wooden nickels to her patients on every visit that you can collect and kids can trade in for toys, grown-ups can get gift certificates. I had enough nickels for two Best Buy gift cards and one Target gift card, worth $10 each. Yay for free stuff!
  • Blew the Best Buy cards on the first season of Dead Like Me on DVD :D
  • The rain came this morning to heal my molested yard.
  • Looking forward to seeing [livejournal.com profile] ericdabear tonight. Drive safe!

Dead Like Me was a good series. Especially the first season. I really liked Rebecca Gayheart in the series, but she is only in the first few episodes. Not sure why she was removed from the series.

I think it was the choice of the actress. She wanted to move on and do other shows...? I can't remember exactly, but I think they allude to it in the dvd commentaries.

She seems to have a history of dropping out of projects. She was supposed to be in the Firefly series, according to Wikipedia, and dropped out after one day of filming.

...and she's a KY girl! Born in Hazard, KY, where they filmed the Patrick Swayze film Next of Kin.

I really liked Dead Like Me... I think it was too smart and witty for the general population so it got cancelled :(

I noticed that the guy who created DLM also created Wonderfalls, which of course didn't last either, I think for the same reason.

I thought Wonderfalls was one of the coolest shows in years. I was SO bummed when it didn't make it. It's one of the few shows that I actually bought the DVD collection of.

Wonderfalls was great!

I get that theme song stuck in my head all the time.

"We're boppin' along in our barrel......"

oh, so you are familiar with it.

yeah, both shows didn't last long because they were actually good.... !

I feel the same way about things. I rarely watch the popular shows. I hated Seinfeld and rarely watched Friends. Guaranteed that if I did, they'd have been canceled after one season or so.

I live in louisville... We should meet up for lunch or something.

Unfortunately, it ended up with me being there only a day. :(

Dead Like Me is amazingly good. I watched them on Showtime, then gave in and bought both seasons when Deep Discount DVD had the 20% off coupon.

Have you ever seen Wonderfalls? If not, I think you will since you like dlm.
