Finally Getting an Order...

Back before Halloween, I had commented that there was a book that was being released called "Crystal Lake Memories," a history of the Friday the 13th movie series. I placed the order for the book on October 26th from Barnes & Noble.

Crystal Lake MemoriesThe Barnes & Noble website would list the book as available.. then not.. then again. It seems like the publishers kept changing the release date. The BN computer would list that the book was "pending" and then "shipped," only to find out that the warehouse never had it. I finally got a call yesterday that the book had arrived, so I was very happy to pick it up today.

I went skimming through the book when I got home. It has some great candid photos at the filming sites for the movies as well as interviews with the actors and directors of each film. I love reading the background information on the movies. From what I've read so far, everyone really enjoyed working on the films and the trivia is pretty interesting (for example: Did you know that when Alice gets her jacket snagged on the oven in the first movie and runs away from the body thrown through the window, that was purely an accident? Due to the fact that they really didn't have time/money to reshoot, she had to do the rest of the movie without her jacket). Okay, I'm a geek, but I love little facts like that.

One of my favorite characters from the second movie was Mark, played by Tom McBride, a handsome, furry gay actor. He sadly died of AIDS in the mid-1990's. He was the subject of a documentary called "Life and Death on the A-List." Has anyone see this film? Just curious.

I think that they had to reprint the book or something. I hope you get it soon :)

I have always loved the F13 movies...well, specifically, the first 3...after that I kind of lose interest. I do want to get the box set of dvd's though. I've never bothered to buy any of the dvd's, because I always hoped they would release special editions or at least some commentaries....

I bought the box set the other day (it was a good deal) and there is a DVD with extra, like interviews and such. Not as much as I'd hoped, but it was still good.

.. and like you, I really enjoy the first four the most :)
