kybearfuzz: (Screaming)

My 666th post....

... is describing me freaking out about the trip now. Well, maybe "freaking out" isn't the proper phrase, it's more of a mix of anxiousness, nervousness, and apprehension (aren't they all different connotations of the same feeling?). I still have so much left to do at home and on my list and, to be honest, being in this office isn't helping. Many of the things I need to do are at home.... ugh...

Random points of the last two days:

  • Found my plug-in adapters and the one for the UK is missing.
  • The Post Office doesn't have the hold mail cards in the lobby, which is inconvienent for me when you stop at 6 PM on the way home from work.
  • My local Wal-Mart doesn't carry Downy Wrinkle Remover for those emergency wrinkle problems on the road. Some hotels, I've found, don't have irons.
  • I still need to pack.
  • I still need to decide what books and DVD's to take with me.
  • I still need to get foreign currency.
  • The online bill pay for the phone company is a piece of crap, they sent me a note to let me know my bank's routing number I entered is wrong. The letter took two days, an email is instant, guess which they sent. Late fees added. Bitches.
  • I was asked out on a date last night for this weekend... sigh... :(
A big hug to the handsome Irish [livejournal.com profile] boobooirl, who has been sending me great information about Ireland. I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to respond, but I GREATLY appreciate the help :)

Yeah you've got a bit of a busy time there. Stop for a moment... relax... *rubs your shoulders* Relax. It's going to be fun. :-)

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, the trip is fun, getting ready for it is less so. :)

[identity profile] dendren.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
yeppers mister... relax. It all works out and you are gonna have a great trip!

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure of I'll have a good time, just getting ready soemtimes is stressful.. thanks :)

[identity profile] cmorley.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh... Remember most DVDs are region-encoded, so they might not work on players over there.

PS: Date? Fuck, man... Ireland!! Whooo!

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, these are DVD's that I'm taking with me to play on the new iBook I bought. Thanks for the warning though.

[identity profile] mikiedoggie.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It'll all work out in the end Mark. My advice re: Money - take a little bit but there are ATMs EVERYWHERE and I've been told numerous times that you're better off drawing money once you get to the airport or something like that.

A date? Well, you have got a great reason to get a raincheck. "Sorry, I can't go out on a date this weekend, I'm off to Europe for a few weeks..."

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I always carry some cash on me, but I try to charge as much as I can :)

[identity profile] mikiedoggie.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. I have been told credit cards are your friend in foreign countries. LOL.

[identity profile] cincycub.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
You can fill out your hold-mail request online now. It rocks. www.usps.com

You still... have 2 days :)

Who's the date? Anyone I know?

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, thank you, kind sir, that was WAY easy!

As for the date, not sure, he's off of OutinCincinnati.com.

[identity profile] susobear.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd recommend to use the card whenever you can, but not to get money out of it (on ATMs). Instead take some Euros with you, and try to pay everything by card. But don't take out money on the ATMs ( commissions, extra charges... you know the drill)

Are you coming to the UK, as well?

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, a little cash is always a good idea, but I charge when I can.

And I'll be Welwyn Garden City (near Hatfield) in Hertfordshire from July 8th to the 15th.

Not a bad place! close enough to london! on the M1 (I'm on the M4)

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-23 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm hoping to travel to London on that first weekend and see some sights again. It will depend on the work I'm doing.

"I still need to decide what books and DVD's to take with me"....Don't pack any books or DVD's (well, maybe 1 book, to read on the flight over). This will leave you plenty of room in your bags for the new ones your going to buy over there. And if you read/watch them over there, that will give you a head start for when you get back home.

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-22 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I always take a couple of used paperbacks with me, I leave them behind if I'm lacking room. And I have a CD case that I'll put the DVD's in, so they really wont take up much space. :)

I like the new picture of you, by the way.

[identity profile] stereobare.livejournal.com 2005-06-23 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"I like the new picture of you, by the way"....ah....shucks....*blush*.... I stuck a few news ones on about a month ago.

Some others have mentioned useful things about using your cards, etc. ... I will second that AND throw in that you'll get a better exchange rate (I know, it's on the govvies, but still). You're bank will charge you a fee IF they even have the money on hand and you'll definitely want to stay away from the money exchange in the airport/hotels/etc as far as a good exchange rate goes.

Ireland is on the Euro (and the exchange rate is creeping up right now - today it was at .80 - which is bad, but better than it's been) and well, the exchange rate for sterling for England just stinks right now no matter how you look at it.

Take deep breaths! You'll get it all done! See you in the UK!

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-23 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I only use those exchanges as a last resort. I try to convert currency before i leave and when I get back.

See you soon !!!! ;)

[identity profile] bookish-cub.livejournal.com 2005-06-23 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Have a great time on your trip!!!

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-23 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, Erich! Have a good time on your trip too! :)

[identity profile] bookish-cub.livejournal.com 2005-06-24 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I'm just bursting with anticipation!!!

[identity profile] boobooirl.livejournal.com 2005-06-23 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
You're more than welcome.
Now stop worrying and start enjoying the excitement of going on "holiday".

(and as they've all said above, ATMs are the way to go)

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-23 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! Yes Sir!! :)

[identity profile] hankbear.livejournal.com 2005-06-23 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
Deep breaths!!

You'll get it all done. Besides, in the grand scheme of things, anything you might forget or not get done before you leave will not really matter that much! At least until you get back.

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-23 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Very very true, but I inheirited this attitude about stressing from Mom, we both try to plan for everything.

[identity profile] susobear.livejournal.com 2005-06-23 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so! I'd love to join you there in Lon, but I have to go to madrid for business purposes from the 8th til the 17th :..(
So no chance to invite you to a beer and show you around..

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-23 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Sigh.. just my luck.... :(

[identity profile] susobear.livejournal.com 2005-06-24 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
Hey! I can introduce you to some nice people ( really nice, honest! ) that can show you around!!
