Hi I'm Mark and I'm a Mac Whore

I'm typing this from the couch, in my living room, on my new G4 iBook. And I am loving it.

After work today, I headed over to the Apple Store in Kenwood Centre to see what the shop had available. I started messing with the 12-inch iBook and fell in love with it. A young lady answered every question I had. Knowing that I bought this for it's ease of use, transport, and wireless capability, I thought about buying the Airport Express for travel purposes and since I can use it at home, even better. I even bought a new padded backpack to store the iBook in on the next trip. The grand total wasn't cheap, but I figure I'll get a lot of use out of everything, especially overseas.

After setting up the Express at home, I walked around the house with the laptop, like an idiot, just seeing how well it would work. Big thanks to everyone who responded to my entry about purchasing the iBook. All comments were very helpful.

LOL.. now... I'm going to surf the net a while.. on my couch... downstairs from the computer desk... still loving it.

*sigh* how is good ol' Kenwood towne center? I used to work there when I was in school at UC- also I'm glad to hear you love the new laptop!! I want to know if you have any issues with it, esp regarding the screen size. I'm looking to buy a laptop and have been eyeing the same one

Kenwood is going through some renovations right now, but they've put in a Cheesecake Factory there (insert drooling).

So far the iBook is living up to expectations and I like that it plays movies, always good on a transatlantic flight.

Oh, I'm loving it. I enjoy walking downstairs where it's cooler and still being able to chat a bit online.

MMMmm wasn't this a brave movement specially after Apple announced their switch to X86 technology?
Wouldn't it have been better to wait til the prices of G4's really fall?
However, it's a cute thing to get! :D

Well, my overseas trip is less than a week away, so I couldn't really wait for the prices to fall.. and my guess is that they wouldn't fall all that much.

[identity profile] susobear.livejournal.com 2005-06-17 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm seeing them already falling here in the UK! :) So maybe when you come here you could have bought one! With one of those ugly thick plucks these brits use! :)

Ouch :(
My typo, my fault... 'Plugs' I meant.

haha... very brave! the new `macintels` are coming out next year... just imageing if your iBook could also boot WindowsXP (or `longhorn` if if ever get`s realeased)... probably the portables will be updated as soon as the powermac desktops since they are so due for a update... but i welcome you to mac land, it`s very pretty and calm here... i`m sure you`ll enjoy it.

[identity profile] susobear.livejournal.com 2005-06-18 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
ahem... there will be NO hardware update, man. And Mac didn't want to push the server market, but the portable market. But it's true... it's going to be nice to have a cheapo equipment running MacOSXI (because this is going to happen)

*fight fight*

x86 macs will be able to run Window$XP hun... but PeeCeezZzZz will not be able to boot OS X... THE END!!! ;-)

Yes of course.. as CSS was going to be the definitive content protection for DVDs, MD5 wasnt ever going to be broken, Satellite digital tv coding was never going to be broken...
Man, welcome to the world of tomorrow

LOL.. the range of the wireless is about 150 ft, but I need to still learn how to password protect it so the neighbors can't hook in ... not that I think they would :)

Strangely enough, the sales lady told me that once people get a laptop, they rarely use their desk models anymore. I think it's fun to be able to take it downstairs and watch things on TV that I can't on the upstairs channels.

[identity profile] cincycub.livejournal.com 2005-06-17 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY! I'm glad you love it!

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-17 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL.. oh yeah, the next time you get an IM from me, I may be sitting on the couch... or my front porch... :)

At least you're a Mac whore, and not a crack whore. I prefer the term "Mac daddy", but what are ya gonna do? ;)

Glad you're liking it.

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-06-17 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh.. I like Mac Daddy... and who says I'm not a "crack" whore.. it just depends on the type of crack you're talking about... LOL! >:D
