Working on the Yard on a Day Off

I woke up very late this morning (at least for me) and felt a bit out of sorts. When I'm in between inspections I often take a day off, so this was it. I wanted to work on the yard, so I called my boss and got permission to skip work today.

I stopped off at the bank to make sure my ATM/Debit card was in the ATM. The teller told me that it was there and I could have it back. I asked her if it still worked, as the customer service phone operator told me they'd deactivate the card. She checked and it was dead, darn it. She told me that they don't destroy them immediately and could have picked up the card instead of having it canceled. Oh well...

Leaving the bank, I went to KMart and picked up 15 forty pound bags of top soil to cover the flower beds. I still need to buy flowers to plant, but all in good time. Needless to say, I'm now exhausted and sore from pulling weeds and lugging those bags of dirt all over the front yard. The yard looks good though, so I guess it was worth it. And I still need to put down mulch at some point.. ugh...

Man, I'm sore from the very small amount of yardwork I did over the weekend. I can't imagine the pain you'll be in tomorrow ;)

Oh, I have to go to work tomorrow.. if I skip, my boss will have my ass! I'll just have to take some ibuprofen and move on! :)

The concept of moving 600 lbs of top soil is just soooooo unappealing, I don't know where to begin. .

LOL.. well it wasn't too easy, let me tell you! I'm sure I'll have some very sore muscles tomorrow.

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! I sure could use one!

And I still need to put down mulch at some point.. ugh...

Hey, it could always be manure..

Btw, VERY woofy icon :)

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-05-10 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL.. it usually is manure! I always put down dirty this time of year and manure later....

Okay, my ego is growing again.

As long as you don't install mirrors above your bed, you're doing good. ;)

::sighs as horns sprout from head::

[identity profile] mat-t.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
So where are these flowerbeds, the front or the back of the house?

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
LOL.. they are in the front, but they lack flowers :)

[identity profile] hankbear.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
And all too soon, I'll be doing the same thing!

I guess I'd better stock up on Ibuprofen!

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
It's not easy, darn it, but the end result looks good.

Yard work'n like crazy here too. Darned ol' English couple that used to live here had so many flowers n' such that I don't know what is what! I'm afraid of pull'n out the wrong thing!!!

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
LOL.. not an easy task, the lady who owned my house before me had the yard done up very much the same way.

[identity profile] cincy-dave.livejournal.com 2005-05-12 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
We also worked on the yard last weekend. We had a few dead bushes that we pulled out and replaced.
All we need to do is the mulch and I think we will be set.

And I second the woofy icon comment.
And the fact that you are even woofier in person!

[identity profile] kybearfuzz.livejournal.com 2005-05-12 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
LOL.. thanks, Dave, I appreciate that. You're very handsome yourself. :)
