Sideways

After sleeping a good chunk of the weekend away, I decided to treat myself and go see Sideways and see if the reviewers were right. I've heard good things about this movie.

Sideways Wine Tasting The movie has the low budget feel, but the story is really well done as is the acting. I have to say I can see why it's up for an Oscar. It's funny, poignant, and entertaining all in the right places. I will admit that I don't see how Thomas Haden Church earned an Oscar nod, he reminds me of his role in Ned and Stacy. Not that impressed by him and I could go the rest of my life without seeing his pasty white butt again. I think Paul Giamatti got robbed in not getting at least nominated. He was great.

I will say this, Virginia Madsen is very impressive in this. To hear her describe the history of a wine is poetic and enthralling. However, the real catch in this movie is Sandra Oh. She's just a really hot chick in this flick, oozing sex appeal. Don't get me wrong, I'm not straightening up or anything, I just know a sexy woman when I see one. The bearded wine seller in the pic above is more my style.

On a personal note, I did get called by the date from Friday night. He's doing good and we're talking about getting together again this weekend. Not sure if he's my type or not yet, but he intrigues me. He'll be a good friend if nothing else.

I've been wanting to see that movie for weeks now...I need to get out and catch it before it's gone!

Well, it's only been in the artsy theaters so far. It seems that only after it's Oscar nod did it finally get some wide distribution. I'm sure it'll be out for a while since it's a contender for best picture. :)

I hope so! The cheapie theater here hasn't gotten it yet, but they do have Kinsey and Closer, so I need to go catch them before they're gone!

Kinsey is a great movie, you'll enjoy that one. I've heard that Closer wasn't that good.

And she's Canadian -- Sandra Oh.

If you really want to see her shine rent Double Happiness (I believe that's the title) it's really good.

I'll have to check that out. I've only seen her in The Princess Diaries and in the previews for Under the Tuscan Sun, and she always seemed so proper in both. Seeing her as the wine-drinking, motorcycle-riding, sexy hippie-chick in this movie was really wild.

I totally agree about Sideways!

I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't sure I would like it, but I did. :)

Virgina Madsen is awesome in Sideways

Glad you liked, "Sideways" It does have that edgy, indie feeling which makes it a really cool pic. Hopefully there will be a knock off. I could see two husky muscle bears being cast in a more revealing flick. WOOOF.

It was a great movie, and a knockoff would be a hoot! :)
