Animated GIF Making

Okay, I spent part of the evening reviewing some work and the rest learning a bit about GIF files. I play a computer guy at work, but I really lack some of the more fun knowledge.

Does anyone have an animated GIF maker program they would recommend that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I'm learning the basics with a somewhat outdated GIFBuilder program. I managed to create a Wonder Woman one I've wanted to try out, but the colors are grainy. What would you recommend I get? Remember that I'm a Mac Tramp. Thanks.

Sadly, I think GIFBuilder is all that is out there that is free. I did some research, and nothing came up. I'll keep pondering.

Macromedia fireworks seems to be ok, but in any case you should use Photoshop for each frame and then animate it with GIFBuilider pasting each frame in place

What OS are you on?

I have a copy of GIF Builder v0.5 ... it works fine on my OS 9.1 and it is on it's way to your Yahoo email now ...

Hey Jimmy!

Thanks for the software. I'm using Mac OS X. Gif Builder 0.5 is the software I used to make the Wonder Woman GIF above.. It works well, but the colors are off, they come off grainy unless they are cartoon shots. I was just checking if there are any others around.

One thing that can help is to make sure you use the same color palette on all of them. Of course if you don't have something like photoshop, this is not the easiest thing to do but...

If you are at all handy with command line tools and are using MacOS X there are a lot of free utilities that are pretty good.

Hey there! I'm not all that great with command lines, but I'm always willing to try. :)
