Free from the shackles of braces!

After working half a day at home, I headed to my orthodontist. I love her, she's so funny.. and she sings! She saw my iPod and immediately wanted one. After having her tear my brackets off with pliers (no joke!), she polished my teeth and got me fitted for my clear retainer. You can't even see it when I'm wearing it.

I had this enormous gap between my two front teeth. I've always wanted it gone. As a grown-up, I finally could pay for it myself. After 16 months in braces and hellacious flossing time, they are off and they are straight. The pictures below are my before and after type pics. One with the gap is from two years ago, one of the few that I'm actually smiling in. The other is from today. Did I mention I love my orthodontist???? She's so cool.

I used to have a snaggle tooth up until 2 years ago when I finally got the funds together to have it capped. I hated being so shallow about it, but ever since I was a kid I never smiled 'cause of it. Now I grin too much.

I know how you feel. I'm not smiling in any of my school pictures except my high-school sophomore year, and that was a fluke.

Thanks! I admit when she came towards me with the pliers, I had a flash of "Little Shop of Horrors." It was the sound of the porcelain brackets cracking that set me on edge. I thought, "What the heck is she doing in there??"
