Saving Money!

I was planning on spending my entire tax return on new windows for my house. I kept looking at the money and thought of all the really cool things I could have done with it -- a trip to Ireland, a new Mac Computer, etc., but the joy of homeowning means you have to keep things fixed up.

The window replacement guy was just here to give me an estimate, not a bear, but a nice red-haired Irish kind of guy.

The good news: the price for replacement is almost $2,000 less than I'd budgeted!!!!

WOO HOO!!!

Based on how many estimates? Are you getting multiple estimates? Be careful unless you know the reputation of the contractor/installer.

It's always nice when you overbudget a little bit and their is a prize in the end. :)

Based only on one estimate, but the company came recommended from three separate coworkers, one of whom had already comparison shopped three other local companies. I feel pretty confident I got the best bargain, especially after they came below the amount I'd budgeted based on my coworker's price from her work.

i broke down (or is that treated myself?) and purchased a new macbook pro 15 and the backlit LED 24-in display a couple of weeks ago. i look at it as a writeoff for my freelance work i'm doing. cause i know i'm going to get hit hard with taxes this year between the unemployment status, and the freelance work i've managed to pick up so far.

my previous employer had me working on a PC. first time in my career (since the early 90s) that i haven't worked on a mac. let's just say i hated it. and not a huge fan of windows.

Or. . . .
