Random Bits

The week from hell is nearly over, thankfully. I have yearned for Friday to get here, which made it that much longer. Here are some random points from the last few days.

  • Lunch at Skyline Chili yesterday was amazing. The whole place was full of burly, bearded guys. Even the manager was a hottie. If only they were on the menu...
  • Watched parts of Beauty & the Geek 2 last night. They were trimming and waxing chest hair off the geeks.. as if their looks weren't bad enough. It was criminal.
  • Ran two miles on the treadmill yesterday. It surprised me considering I'd not been to the gym proper in over a week.
  • According to the Washington Post, several states are considering laws to stop people from protesting at funerals. It seems Rev. Fred Phelps from Kansas and his psychotic followers are protesting funerals of Iraqi War soldiers saying that God is killing them as punishment because of us gay folk. How low can one man sink... The story is here.
  • Had two prank calls last night. Sounded like teenagers with too much time on their hands. I hope they slip off their skateboards and break a bone.
  • On 411, I had a guy ask me if I was chatting with a guy he used to date (who is also an LJ'er). I said yes, I did on occasion. He told me that I shouldn't because he's a "lier" and that I should be on my "gard." If he wants me to take him seriously, he needs to learn how to spell.
  • Chatted this morning with the always handsome [livejournal.com profile] raphbearish. He's so cute :)
  • Does anybody have any news on Mike ([livejournal.com profile] scifibear99)? Just wondering if he's okay.

About the protests at funerals, this is my favourite thing about the article: "These people are not gainfully employed, so they're waiting for someone to do battle with them so they can go to court and win," said Bowser. "They want a big liability case to pursue. I don't think they actually give a diddly wink about the arguments they're making, but they're clever individuals trying to make a fast buck."

I definitely think that's the case for some of those protesters, anyway. Until I read that, it never occured to me that that is possible.

And this man is supposed to be a preacher. How sad! I'm sure they're just egging for a fight. Too bad the Hell's Angels don't just drive up and start beating the crap out of them. I'm sure there'd be no witnesses.

I dislike these people almost more than the religious right. They are out to spread hatred and maybe make a profit.

You probably heard that our state senate and house passed a gay rights bill. That happened on a Friday. On Monday one of the people here in Washington who sponsors all kinds of crap bills submitted two to repeal the law. I honestly don't think it's because he cares one way or the other I think it's because he knows he can galvanize the right wing and get them to finance him and line his pockets. There must be a better way to make a living. I hope there's a special section of hell for people like him and the "Phelps-ians".
