Training Day

Today turned out far different than I expected. I came in planning to do a few side things and start an inspection. Then I was asked to put on some impromptu software training. I had no reserved room, no computers set up, no materials ready, and my class attendees were unknown. What did I say? "Sure!"

Put the whole thing together in the morning, went to lunch, and taught all afternoon. Overall it went extremely well, I thought. I'm pretty pleased with myself that I can throw it together so quickly and still have a functional training class. It's late and I'm still at work, but I'm feeling good.

.. The call is coming from inside the house!...

Okay, driving into my garage I remembered a very creepy thing that I had somehow blocked from my mind earlier today. As I was leaving this morning, I noticed that the cover for my electronic key pad was raised on the outside of the garage door. This happened once before, but I wrote it off as my being forgetful. I remembered taking the trash out last night through the garage door, but I used the interior switch to open and close it. So I know the cover was down last night.

This made me uncomfortable this morning. I had a good day at the office so I blocked it out, but remembered it when I drove up today. It's probably some kids, but I took the trash out last night at 9 PM. A bit late for kids to be out goofing around. Paranoid I know, but to feel safe I called the local police station in my tiny town and asked if there had been any break-in's of late. He said that there had been, but none in my immediate area.

Ugh! Suddenly that home alarm system is starting to sound really good.
