Day Two Beginnings

Day one ended on a good note. The part of London I am in is not very club oriented, so not too much nightlife. I also hate going to these places solo. So... I ended up at the movies and saw "Pirates of the Caribbean". I had been wanting to see it for some time and the timing seemed good. While on the way, I and a couple of guys passed the "Finding Nemo" poster and I overheard them talking that they couldn't wait to see it. I remarked that it was an awesome movie and that they'll really enjoy it. I guess my American accent let them know how I had seen it. I didn't realize that the movies sometimes don't get released overseas for some time.

"Pirates" was an awesome flick. Love the special effects and stunts, which I think really made the movie. I will say that Johnny Depp was excellent, both creepy and humorous. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly make a good couple too.

Got my wake up call at 7:30 AM (that's 2:30 AM for the folks on EST back home, and it still feels like 2:30 AM for me right now). Packed up my bags and am waiting for my ride to Swindon in Wiltshire. I thought that since I was here for the next few hours, I'd check the email again.

Well, I'm off to walk around a bit more and then head back to the hotel. BBC TV is pretty limited, I guess the Brits aren't as TV-oriented as we Americans. They have four channels opposed to our twentysomething. Hopefully will have something more interesting to write about later.

Day Two Continued

My internet connection doesn't seem to work. Damn! At £3 per 15 minutes, this could get pricey.

The drive to Swindon was nice and leisurely. Not too much excitement. Swindon is also a very small town, so not much to do here. Add to that the fact that Monday is the bank holiday and most businesses have closed up shop for the weekend, it makes for bleak pickings for tomorrow.

Took a two hour walk around old town Swindon. Noticed the odd thing is that the health warning on cigarettes is very different here. They just say "SMOKING KILLS," which is far more direct than our Surgeon General's warning on a pack. It's also huge, it takes up nearly half of the pack's front. Not that it seems to have too much of an effect. Saw tons of young people lighting up all over London, rather disturbing really.

Good news is that the gym here has Body Pump classes. It's a weight lifting class done to music with low weights, but high repetitions. I take the class at home at Gold's Gym, so it's a welcome sight. Since I hadn't done it in a month, tomorrow should be funny.

Well, not much else to go on. I be doing some shopping tomorrow at an outlet mall and checking out the railroad museum to satisfy the tourist in me. Then I do some prep for work. And I'll try to get that blasted internet to work again. Ugh! Luckily, there is an internet cafe in town, but it wont be open until Tuesday.
